"Jacob Comes Home" was written by William Kozlenko in shortly after the events of Krystalnacht. It was first performed in early at Northwestern College in Illinois. Esau says he doesn’t need Jacob’s gifts, but Jacob asks him to take the gift because God has cared so well for Jacob. Esau excepts. The two men work together to get Jacob’s family safely home, then Esau heads back home ahead of the others. So Jacob comes home, and makes a home for his family in his father Isaac’s land.   And then, after all is said and done, Jacob decides to return home. The very last scene in this morning’s portion depicts that moment – as he crosses the border back into the land of Israel, the text tells us that angels of God met him, and at that very moment he reentered the land of his birth. According to the text, it was written by the ancient prophet Jacob. The purpose of the book, in his own words, is to persuade all men to "come unto Christ" (Jacob ). While this book contains some history of the Nephites, including the death of Nephi, it is mainly a record of Jacob's preachings to his people.
